On my way to the forest

By Anshu Saxena

On my way to the forest, I felt,
The serenity was quite undealt,
Still, I could hear the whisper of nature,
To welcome her son yet another.

Coos of the cuckoos and the hustle of bees,
Swoosh of the wind and the groan of trees,
Dance of the beetles in the song of rain,
Melody of nature vanishes all pain.

Burble of the brook in the midst of still,
Rustling of leaves in the meadow uphill,
Never listened to a rhythm so mellow,
Charm of my mother is unmatched my fellow.

Advent of Rain is a celebration for all,
Blossom of flowers and surrender of fall,
Pearls from heaven ascend to revive,
The parched earth and bring it alive.

Sunburst piercing the green to the ground,
And the warmth of the caress that stays around,
Sweet scent of lilies filling my nose,
Her love language is care I suppose.

Save her from the treacherous claws,
Of her children with hopeless flaws.
Years after years she faced deceit,
From us, is it a mother’s defeat?

Thrashing her love back to the ground,
Chaining and holding her, bashing her crown,
The abuse and torment for years she endured,
Smiling through pain, he cared and cured.

What a shame to humankind so blind,
Breathing her last, she is weak, never whined,
Those shoulders how frail, still bearing the burden,
Of the sins of yours and mine, I am certain.

Those eyes suffused with sorrow and grief,
Once shone with life, love and belief,
The motherly embrace that was gentle and calm,
Is now the tremor of her trembling arm.

I pray, only pray for her aching soul,
May peace find her and take her whole,
Lord, take away her misery and pain,
And let serenity be all that she attains.
