She saw him enter the cafe door
Her 16 year old heart skipped a beat
The waitress brought her Espresso
21 year old lips savoured the treat
She langourously tilted her head to the right
Her 30 year old skin aglow in the light
Some soothing musical symphony afloat
40 year old ears absorbed each note
The young man leaned forward and gently said
Mother...it is almost time for bed
A 70 year old voice feebly broke
An entire life gone in one stroke
The little boy gently squeezed her hand
There...there...Grandma...I understand.
