Nani

By Rahul Ganguly

For so long, I believed it was you who gave me breath,
In this lost circus of chaos, where shadows danced with death.
It was through your light my spirit took flight,
In the depths of despair, you became my guiding light.

I glimpsed the world's wonder through your luminous gaze,
Seeing divinity in all, beneath the sky's vast blaze.
Every worldly stride was taken by your side,
Running to your shadow when the storms would collide.

And now, as you depart with a grace so serene,
Please leave me a map to find where you've been.
Through all our twinning and my endless cries,
You cradled me gently, like a pearl held tight,
Shielding me from the tempests and the wild, raging night.

In a world where souls drift, both vicious and mean,
Your warmth promised bliss like a soft, gentle sheen.
Just as I was shaping into the world’s own design,
Didn’t you vow to walk with me through the corridors of time?

Now you leave me a burden, both heavy and stark,
Ever wondered? Down here, in the dark, it feels stark.
You were the epitome of a sage from the heights,
Witness to love that shines through the darkest of nights.

You knew the heavens longed to welcome your grace,
Where departed souls wait for your warm, sweet embrace.
Let the heavens rejoice as a symbol of love arrives,
But when I meet you again, in that space where hope thrives,
I yearn for your lap to be empty, unmarked,
My eternal resting refuge, my peace, my spark.
