My Love

By Snigdha Bhowmik

You are the hidden bliss I was searching for years.
You are the healer that my soul needed for long.
You came as my God when my heart was a desert,
And bloomed flowers there of all the amazing hues.
You felt my pain and devoted yourself for my bliss.
You killed my fear and gave birth to my true self.
You are the adrenaline that suffocates me with joy,
The oxytocin that makes me feel happy to be alive.

My heart skips a beat when I think of being with you,
My knees tremble and I lose in ecstasy when I see you.

And so I dream of romantic rainy evenings with you—
When we go on long drives far away from the city,
And rest at some lonely forest or a calm sea beach,
When you get enchanted by the scent of my floral mist
And fall in my love all over once again this monsoon.

So I dream of private mornings with you on holidays—
When I am in my pastel colour dress and silver pearls
In front of the mirror painting my lips with pink lipstick,
When you hug my neck and whisper to me words of love,
And I blush and laugh and almost swoon in your arms.

And I dream of coffee dates with you or an evening tea,
Sitting on a corner table in the scent of aromatic candles,
Over which I can share my philosophies on love and life,
Which you listen with care and into my eyes you stare,
When we hold hands of each other and fall in love again.

And I dream of stormy nights with you in the bedroom,
When we are in each other's hug, the scent of jasmine
From my hair overwhelming you into lip-locking with me,
When all the worries of the busy day come to an end,
And our souls are calmed, basking in love—only love.

You are my reflection, my other half, my one and forever.
Our souls are counterparts, our hearts beat for each other.
In every life my soul will find you and love you to the fullest,
Because you are my peace, and I know we belong to each other.
