My Dad

By Ushasi Mukhopadhyay

My Dad's the best of them you'll find
He cools my mind like sprinkling ice
He's got that picture perfect smile
That lights up my day, and my night
He'll save me from my angry Mum
And listen to her 'til she calms down
In this way he'll save my back
"Gotta go to school!".. he'll pack my bag

May Dad's taken care of me since birth
Of mine, has taught me how to walk
Holding his finger with my hands
I'm so happy, I could dance
He would embrace me when I cry
And binge with me and Mum, at night
I didn't know he was awake
For keeping me and my Mum safe

He's the best Dad one can have
I know, for me He'll even get stabbed
Mingling at night, me and my Mum,
We get a hint of what a good Man
He is!

Dad, I've always loved you so much
Pouring my lil' innocent heart.
And I know you'd never break it
'Cause you're a perfect fit for it.
Nevertheless, Some made me cry
'til the end of time you try
To pick all the pieces up and
Fasten'em together so they don't fall.

I'm the apple of his eye
He knows how hard I always try to be the daughter he's proud of!
I know he's satisfied with just me in his lap
Dancing to my favorite songs
Hugging him all along!

Dad, you're the Sunshine, I'm a golden valley
Lighting me up when I feel gloomy
Accepting me for who I am
That's not a common thing that's been done!
You're the mighty ocean
I'm your pearl
You're so great
I'm really grateful for my fate
Joining both hands 'fore God I pray
"I wish to be like Him someday"

Dad, I'd love to be like You, someday...

You're the best Dad
And, I hope you know that!
