Living and Beyond

By Neelima Talwar

I am living,
like another being in a new place.
You dream of another life,
with me dragged into it.
I came back living,
a hell and forth.

You waited,
through my sutures and new beginnings.
When people asked where I was,
you look away between smoke-rings and the sky.

I see my life laid out,
like the terraced tea gardens,
we saw from a helicopter ride in Gangtok,
with its many bands of emerald,
like the scars on my body.

I am glad that my sorrow,
is a stillborn,
and many lights,
pull me with tentacles.

I am engulfed,
by the landscape,
of the lakes and coconut palms,
the pink sunsets.

I still write poems,
though my perspective,
changed from dreaming,
of the painted glass of Gaudi in Sagrada,
to a dull ecru.

  • Heartfelt congratulations on the soul-stirring expression in your poetry.
Each word you pen reflects the strength of your journey—raw, real, and radiant.
You are a born winner, rising with grace through every storm.
With courage as your compass and passion as your pen,
You are destined to shine—fearless, full of gusto, and forever a poet at heart."

  • Neel, your ability to find poetry in your tremendous journey is nothing shy of heroic.
When gestated sorrow is stillborn, by your determined renewed perspective, new life begins!
Not only do you paint the most difficult on a toughened canvas, you celebrate all the layers beneath and emerge the perfect artist, true to your heart, now perhaps dull ecru, but never devoid of passion.
