Letter To My Mom

By Mitisha Jain

You are my sun and shine
You are everything divine

How do you remain so soft yet so firm
How do you stay so courageous and affirm

For the strong and confident person that you made me
Composure and calm are what you taught me

Caressing through sleepless nights
Holding tight through difficult strides

Fighting, struggling, preparing, facing, enduring, adapting, changing
Never did I think I would come so far so effortlessly
Had it not been your support unending

Today, that I am a mom myself, I realize how tough I have been as a child
But you always made sure that there was no damage in my pride

The mirror might be right, the mirror might be wrong,
But in your eyes, I have been beautiful all along

In the journey of life, there comes a time when you feel lost and alone
A stabbing pain, a feeling untold

How do you understand the flicker of a change
Though my mind has not uttered, you sense the strain

I hope I have inherited at least a part of the magic you entail
I hope I carry forward the legacy without fail

A Mother’s love can be equated to none
To me, you are the only one!!!
