Letter From A Martyr

By Samiksha Yadav

We were born to die,
Some sooner than later,
I died for my land,
Blood dripping from my hand.

I held my ground to fight for peace,
I burned the pride of those enemies,
They had to fight in group to tame,
The fire of my heart, my burning rage.

I roared so loud, my power like thunder,
I rained down fury, not willing to surrender,
The scars of battle are blessings of my motherland,
Each wound is a story, like a shield I stand.

It brings me pride and peace to say,
I fought for my nation, our kids can fearlessly play,
I am now a history, so their future can glow,
A soldier has fallen, so their dreams may grow.

As I lie on my land, heart full of pride,
Our nation stands strong, no one can divide,
In her warm soil, now I will reside,
As I bid my adieu, a final ride.
