When did we get so lost?
From finding peace within,
To fighting for a world with none.
From being united to live,
To killing the next to see who won.
From being humans who see another,
To those who see one over the other.
It's not the anger in me that speaks,
It's the hope that stayed behind.
Not one for the day that's divided,
But for the peace that we all once craved.
It's the only part that still fights.
It's the only one that knows what we really hold.
What we really hold and unto what we should,
When we are neither lost nor wanting to be blind.
Did we lose it somewhere?
The eyes that sparked to see the world,
The ones that never got enough or more.
The same one who knew what was right from wrong,
And the ones that somehow outgrew it all.
How do we grow back in place of growing old.
And how do we go back to loving whole?
It's not the lament of one that has grown,
But merely of the child that feels so lost and cold.
