Laburnum What?

By Ahana Sadhu

One summer morning, as the loo was going strong,
I didn't care and went to the balcony to
stroll around.
Out of the blue I heard an excited mynah cry!
Unable to find the bird, I stared left and right,
taking it upon myself, to find where did this mynah hide?
As I continued my search, my gaze fell upon a beautiful and mystifying tree, which I had never stumbled upon!

Oh! I couldn't believe my luck this time,
for the tree looked as if it came from the
garden of Aphrodite, the divine.
Its height towering, its flower yellow citrines,
I found it's name to be Laburnum Anagyroides.

I spelled the first half with perfection,
'Laburnum' is easier to spell, than the names of kids in my section.
'Anagyroides'? What a crazy name, as,
I stared at the tree in a dreamy way.
Why did botanists, have to name this
heavenly tree, like an animal which is prehistoric?

This tree with hanging bunches of
flowers,
mesmerized me like a hypnotiser.
This tree made me feel,
"Summer has improved a great deal. "
To touch and explore this beauty of a
tree,
felt like getting a new buddy.

Just the name, oh! such a trouble,
it forced me to tell my friend, that,
The name of this tree is Laburnum Anachloride
