Wake up, brush yourself for the day
immerse in the morning ritual
of finishing your tea with hurried lips
fold the forgetful newspaper back again
dump it into an amnesiac corner of your room, your world
leave the chair to the care of the detached balcony
stand up, head to the bazaar with nylon bags
haggle over 50gms of ginger
grab 10gms of free green pepper
return home like a victorious loser
you have nothing to lose
prepare your dumb bed
sink into the numb mattress of insignificant life
let the dogs burst into sudden barking and dew drops silently fall outside
while in the adjacent flat
deep wounds and hurt ego quarrell long over love
and then fade into the sleepless night again
for a while, let the aching thoughts of love
lift you like a paper plane with a hesitant wobble
and then leave you to the mercy of the transitory moments
let your flimsy wings flutter
and then surrender softly to gravity
there's no air
just life
