Jhuni – Delhi Poetry Slam

Jhuni

By Akanksha Kumari

Caressing the body of her lover
The girl was sat near a shovel
The grave was dug deep
But her heart reluctant
To let him go to an eternal sleep

Jhuni, Oh Jhuni! My beloved
Whispered the voice from behind
Step back and observe
The soul not here anymore
The spirit might
Have taken another form
The body that you are holding
Nothing but a carcass
In dire need to conform

Oh Brother! Oh Brother!
The persistent pain
Is aching the heart
Longing to reunite
With the one apart

Only time can heal
Your broken heart, Oh Dear!
But your sinking may
Bring your wheel to an end

Let it move rather slowly
With its cukoo around, Oh Jhuni!
Let the melancholy go, Oh Jhuni!
