It was my world. – Delhi Poetry Slam

It was my world.

By Anirban De

Nine months had passed, I was in the dark;
I was in the dark and I was in the lark.

I was calm and quiet, bright and light;
In the world I cherished for nine months.

The deep silence blessed me with the completeness of my life.
O Solitude! Help me me to float in sweet dreams.

The dreams were so playful that I never realised the moments of pain;
O God! It was a beautiful gift to me that I gained.

I was dreaming one day;
Suddenly a tremor came,
And made my dreams in vain.

Oh God! Have I lost my world!

The first touch I got,
Seemed to me, somewhere I lost,
In a world of unknown creatures,
With some strange features,
They were laughing, howling, and shouting;
I didn't know why,
As I started to cry.

The cradle of my world I measured;
Gave me the moment of immense pleasure.
The darkness I found was a divine treasure.

The peace of heaven and an Elysium I found in my world,
A dream of eternal joy, I felt in that world.

Oh God! The violent struggle I faced was so painful to me,
That I lost my beautiful world of darkness; which was so helpful to me.
Oh God! What sin I committed that you demolished my world forever;
It was only a simple wish to live in that beautiful world forever.

My world was dark and gloomy,
But it was filled with light and ecstasy.

It was my world that I cherished for nine months.
