Into the Dark

By Taniya Panta

As I walked into a graveyard,
I saw moonlight
falling on my head.

And as I chose to move ahead,
I saw tombstones of ancient
Kings and Queens,
their princes and princesses
who died thousands of years ago,
and with a cool breeze
blowing against my neck
I saw a shaft of moonlight
Falling on a gravestone:
(Prince Johnathan Curtis
1182-1206)

Everything was then calm,
until I felt a presence beside my shoulder
And a chill went down my spine
On turning around I saw HIM.

In a long claret cloak
Ruffle collar shirt
Jet black hair worn down
Beard covering all his face
And darker than the darkness itself

“What’s life?” he asked.
“It’s just a dream on the way to death.” He said.

“Will you follow me into the dark? He asked
Where there is nothing to fear
and there is no war,
Where peace of death is near
and pain of life is far.

Where there is no room for the living,
and where all the dead reside,
Where everything is like heaven
and hell lay beside.

Will you follow me into the dark?
Where the dark clouds watch over you,
and the night lights direct you.
Where gleaming stars are loved
and there is no sunshine.

Will you be my dark queen?
as I wear the crown of thorns
and you, the tiara of roses
Where you give me the strength to fight fear,
like moonlight to a vampire,
Where there will be no tears
and love and peace will be the desire?”

I looked into his eyes
Not knowing what had just happened
I felt blood rush in my veins
And understood what my visions meant

-“this is what I was looking for,
and I am ready to go home,
so come and take me away,
As we both rule this darkness alone!”
