In Vigil – Delhi Poetry Slam

In Vigil

By Ninggousiam Songput

In vigil, I shall lift my laden affliction unto Thee,
For the reckoning of peace,
For this bedlam that never ceases.

From this vantage point,
Addled by the malady of the mind,
Shall one beloved be keen more?
Shall not one condone and forgive another for brotherhood's sake,
Over the folly of marauders?
Shall not one put a halt to this fable clamour?
For we are one family.

Shall there be another dirge from a parent, a spouse, or a child?
Swig one’s parched throat with one’s brother's blood?
Wizened each other's souls in tirades and harangues of discord?
Why smother in each other's presence?
Let us walk this meandering, awry path in one accord.

While prone to being waylaid,
Awake to this reveille, brothers and sisters!
For we have a long way to recuperate from this malicious ailment,
We, every waif and stray,
Our afflictions are in utterance ineffable.
For riven, we have fallen into the ruse of devilry that revels.
