In the 'I' of the storm

By Mansi Chaturvedi

Standing on the deck
As the ship took its stride
On the majestic wave that tried to create havoc
Waiting for disaster that was to be.
Why was I there is what they asked?
What was it that I was waiting to see?
I guess I heard the sound
As the ocean did speak to me.
What you hear is the ocean cry
Heaven is just its companion in need .
I heard it cry tears
Of stories untold, unheard, lying beneath.
There were truths that shook up at times
Trying to be heard and break free.
I could feel it rock and shudder
I could hear it bang against the vessel
As if someone knocking hard
To be heard and pulled out.
The sky also joined in tearing itself open
monstrous dark clouds
That spell fire
Wanting to stop me for a reason.
I heard someone shout
Can't you hear me? Watch out!
I stood still , torn between the truth and reality.
Fake is what this storm felt to me.
There is a lot that the waters hold deep inside
There are secrets that are not shared as it hides
At times it feels a burden and cries
To tell us about the treasure that was once of worth and was alive.
Now it just lays unheard with me
Only a mariner's tale that was waiting
To be known and to be seen.
