Parveen Banu

Due to the arrogance of someone's invasion,
 they’ve lost everything—
now they stand in line for food—
 the kings of those land.

Longing for just a meal a day,
as bombs rain down like storm,
 a boy wipes blood-stained bread
 and eats in silence...

Is there a disease worse than hunger?
A mother, with no milk left out,
 shows her withered chest
 to her crying infant...
Alas! Even her eyes are bone-dried.

The desperate people swarm the food carrying trucks like flies—
 Being weak, crushed by hunger,
the boy scoops up soil to eat.

His action leaves the notes to the invaders,
"All these destruction is for this soil, right? "
