I'd go to war for you

By Anketha Raman

Meeting you was serendipity,
A twist of fate in perfect simplicity.
Imagine a world where we never met,
A colorless canvas, a heart unmet,
For I'd go to war for you.

But if not for you, there'd be no beau,
It’s in the little things you do,
In the quiet moments, simple and true,
For I'd go to war for you.

You work with wood, with bolts, with nails,
A craftsman steady, where others fail.
Your joy blooms not from grand design,
But from these small moments, tender and fine,
For I'd go to war for you.

Everything you touch bears your trace,
A mark of love in its humble place.
And all I have are these words to lend,
To tell of a man, a lover, a friend,
For I'd go to war for you.

For generations to see, and maybe find
That men like you, though rare, leave behind
A love that lingers, eternal as the sea,
Owed to the tides that brought you to me,
For I'd go to war for you.
