I wish I were a bird

By Shrishti Garg

I wish to be a bird,
Flying towards the horizon.
To places unreachable,
I could fly, flapping my wings up and down.

So hard the destination seems to be,
But somewhere, it feels possible.
Flying away to distant Arabia,
Where the lovely bird could see the dreamland.

No fable of Sindbad it would be,
True her dream would be.

This place—the bird, no other than me—
Could reach after tiring efforts.
Where the fuel might burn her to ashes,
So strong her desire that all challenges she faced.

Just to have a glimpse of the beauty,
Of the land which was a distant dream.
Now the dream would be reality.
It might be that happiness is short-lived,
But this moment came in the bird’s life—
Reaching the destination is achievement.
