By Simran Qureshi

I started a day,
Searching for a way.
I asked the question, Why?
I saw the bright sky—
Until I met a guy.
He proposed to me,
And I said yes.
Morning messages, night texts—
He treated me
Like a shoe without lace.
He sent his photo, but I wouldn’t.
He said I should, but he shouldn’t.
There were restrictions I came to know.
Oh God, I was an unholy child no one knows.
We had just started together,
But we didn’t know each other.
You crossed the way,
While I remained a slave.
You never looked back.
There was a proposal that lacked.
I told you I had someone.
You kept asking for the name.
You changed mine—
I had to leave my fame.
Suddenly, the brightest light
Turned into the darkest night.
You left me in such a way
It felt like there was no more day.
A long night full of fear,
An inner fight soaked in tears.
We didn’t break up—
Our fortune just gave up.
Dark shadows around me,
Shouting, eating, haunting me.
I started to hate myself
Till I finally met myself.
When there was no hope for daylight,
I found myself guided by an inner light.
The days went on—
Finally, I moved on.
I started learning new things,
Believing I was earning my wings.
You must know your journey
If you want to reach your destiny.
The past cannot be changed,
But it can be buried and forgotten.
My past was just a few minutes ago.
He gave me tension
That became my lesson.
How weak my past made me—
How strong my future calls me.
The universe played a major role,
Introducing me to my major goal.
I was so busy with my schedule
I no longer needed someone beside me.
Morning workouts,
Afternoon meetings,
Evening routines,
Nights meant for sleeping.
New ideas, invention—
A life of perfection.
They prefer to be silver,
But I choose to stay gold.
First, I was running beside diamonds—
Now I own my crown.
I live with the one who knows my presence,
And I know his absence.
Because a queen’s heart is not fragile.
