I

By Raadhika Jharia

I am just a cloud of dandelions,
Floating among a thousand dreams.
I am a whisper in the ear,
That travels through the racing heartbeat.

I am the song you heard on a rainy day,
Haunting you while you try to sleep.
I am the hot mug of coffee,
That you hold so close in a freezing breeze.

I am the first breath you gasp for,
Almost drowning yourself in the sea.
I am the silent stare you gaze upon,
Trying to dissolve yourself into me.

I am the pain and joy you feel,
When my nails dig trails and trace your back.
I am the peace you feel with the deepest embrace,
When a second's time burst into light years of flames.

I am the first step you took on the grass,
Not knowing what the world had in store for you.
I am the ocean you want to venture into,
That the stormy seas won't let you necessitate.

I am the nothingness you see,
When you close your eyes, surrounded by your own darkness.
I am the fire that can engulf you,
With a small flick of the lighter, even if it rains.

I am the puzzle you try and try to solve,
Looking to put pieces of your life together.
I am the book you read and re-read,
Trying to find words of wisdom in hopes of change.

I am everything I believe myself to be,
Yet, I float still in thin air.
I am just as confused as you,
Wandering among those dreams.
