The musings of a child
are perplexing and strange,
but, perhaps, exactly what
society requires for better change.
Innocent, pure, uncorrupted,
the child’s heart knows no evil
and is easily trusted.
Yet, naive and simply moulded,
this heart grows to become selfish.
The best of them, swallowed by greed
which has become society’s survival skill.
For selflessness brings copious sorrow
and open mindedness encourages cheats,
then why does it shock when everyone
turns into mindless robots obeying nature’s skill?
A fresh burst of wind in the heat,
a sliver of sunshine in the snow
delicate as pearl, hiding in shadow
peeks out in consternation,
fear engulfing every pore.
Is it welcome, are we ready yet
for upheaving change, return to
humanity, which we lost
aeons ago, in our pursuit for “happiness”?
Are we ready, determined enough,
to break barriers built
around us and embrace the spirit
instilled in God as idols?
Are we there to become guardians
of good, and idols for future
generations to follow with love?
Is it time to emerge from
the cocoon as butterflies
after converting from essential bugs?
