Hometown

By Anshita Pradhan

Sitting in the room of four unfamiliar walls, it reminded me of the walls that called me their own,
The thought made me pack my bag and run to the town that never made me feel alone.

Ohh what beauty the harpin bend of the ghat roads hold,
It felt as if it made my burderned and squeezed heart unmold.

On reaching, I saw the mountains that once shielded me,
Said with their teary eyes "Where could you be?! "

The winds whispered in my ears with glee and mirth,
they wanted to hear my stories from the place of my berth.

The roads which were covered with fog and mist,
With concern and worry, it hugged my soul and kissed.

On my way to home I looked at the familiar temple varandas that knew me as their child,
Saw the autonomous me, with heavy and proud heart ,smiled.

I reached the place most comforting even in the tempest of dark midnight,
the kindred eyes that love me shone with delight.

Nostalgia and joy made my heart dancing,
My hometown made me realised the blessings I'm missing in life while advancing.

With heavy heart and teary eyes I write this,
In a hope of never going away from this heaven and never missing this ultimate bliss.
