FOOTBALL OF LIFE

By Sameer Punyani

If everybody won,
Where would be the fun,
If everyone would fail,
Only gloom will prevail,
Life; a tournament of matches after matches,
Failure is not everyday nor success always hatches,
Be alert on the field my player,
Sir, Murphy may still visit you despite your prayer,
But he too has a mileage issue; a matter of fact
So when you get the ball next, be sure to act,
Score or not you will get the ball again,
Only if you keep kicking you are set to gain,
And when you hit the nets,
Dizzy on the seventh heaven it gets,
Forget not to take a bow and touch the ground,
Thank hine, for not everyone scores, look around,
Be someone’s winger too or keeper,
To play the game not on surface but deeper,
The roots you grow will make you thrive,
Keep shedding old skins and pump up your drive,
Basking in the sun is reserved for the retired,
Glory of the goal must not get you mired,
And remember…
Every kick does not become a goal,
So every goal should not become a kick…
