Drowning Desire

By Shishir Das

A twisted pride which shaped my vision,
Is now reeking foul, a sad apparition.
I dreamt so much blood but it's not mine,
The water is up to my knee but I'm fine.

Poor choices and bad luck written predestine,
Demons of grey matter meet clandestine.
Strutting shameless, I'm out of line,
The water is up to my waist but I'm fine.

False armor of ego will be shattered free
That man in the mirror will surely hurt me
You celebrate, while I poison the wine
The water is up to my neck but I'm fine

Pain is a red ocean and we are marooned,
Come swim with me, we're already doomed.
No use asking for help when everyone is seething,
The water is everywhere and I stopped breathing.
