Do you ever feel
Like you’ll never catch up?
That you’ll remain,
Stuck in this
Role that you play.

A role that you hate,
But don’t know how to
Get out of.

Seeing others
Move forward
While desperately
Trying to break free
Of a mighty
Yet invisible shackle
Holding you back.

Trying and trying,
Only to move forward an inch,
And then slide back
To where you started.

You know what to do,
But you just can’t
Bring yourself to do it.
