By Sapna Ullal

The stars and planets rise and fall at her feet
She is without beginning and she is without end
She is The beginning and she is The end
Time stops in its tracks in front of her and bows its head
She controls the moon and swell of the sea
In every era, she regenerates to fight evil
When she arrives, a thousand suns rise on Earth
When she leaves, she leaves the world in darkness again
When darkness rears its hydra heads,
Her own divinity she forgets
Endless cycles of birth and death
Subdued and maligned, her power upset
In an era of deep injustice and pain
When the Goddess refuses to reincarnate
In her own self, she must seek divinity
By her own hand, she must write her stars
To her lone beat, she must dance the cosmic dance
Till Earth is drenched in unholy shame
And vermilion with feminine rage
Then the Goddess takes birth again
Born of celestial dust and earthly clay
Awakens the fierce inner Goddess
One day she rises, eyes ablaze
One day she awakens in divine embrace
Circles of fire, she creates
In a cosmic dance, blissful and free
When the divine Goddess dances in the sky,
Reckless and unfettered
You do not control or tame her
You remind her of who she really is;
You remind her of her divinity.

Sapna, you are truly gifted and talented. Love the divinity that flows through and glows in the words you penned. In this Kali Yuga we definitely need a Devi Maa incarnation to set things right and shower countless blessings on us mortal beings.

Dear Sapna,
We were extremely happy to see your poem! It’s truly divine.
We have known since 2008 that you had a gift for writing, and you were always so prolific even back then.
The way you described the Saraswati Yatra in 2009 when you were a little child was awesome.
This little poem is the perfect finishing touch on all your hard work.
Veena and I are really very proud for all that you’ve accomplished.
It takes courage to put your heart on the page, and you do it so beautifully.
We hope you continue to write and share your work with the world.
We know you have so many more stories to tell.
May Kuldevi Laxminarayan Mahamya always be with you, guiding you on your literary journey.
With love and pride,
