Detour Via Memory Lane

By Sandhya Ramesh

Oh! Its time now for those steps to be retraced
Slithering thru' winding ways like a prey betrayed

Soothing music showered on sweltering soul
But why does it feel that my being is mauled?

Subtle nuances dangling with dubious hints
What is that scent scattered by naughty southern wind?

In painful ecstasy the lithe frame is held
Anointed in the nectar of love and days revelled

The drowsy drunken heart hates to mingle
Will it break the charm? Let the soul be single!

The stakes are high, but the sensation is sweet
The magic has opened to skies where rainbows meet

From the ashes like a Phoenix does it rise
The staggering feet move away from ways hailed wise

Glory to the golden threads that weave this moment
Will this lead to a day more of mere torment?

Ting! 'Tis the doorbell of duty only to call back
The agile mind that is equipped with the knack

Up in the mysterious vapour the magical moments vanish
leaving nothing but imprints of stories to be finished.
