Daffodil Hill – Delhi Poetry Slam

Daffodil Hill

By Krishna Nanda Payyakkil

Do you know the field of flowers yellow
Spread out under an ocean sky?
Petals brushing against my fingertips
We fell in love once, in a different life

The feel of your hands as you cupped my face
And you whispered the words of a summer song
As you held my hand and pulled me further
Through the blossoms where my love for you belonged

You braided my hair , planted flowers and a kiss
Held my hands, standing in this flower maze
You told me not one of those blossoms compared
To the beauty I held when sun fell on my face

I wish this was real, this ballad of love
I wish it could stay, even as we died
But every flower in this place has wilted
Wilted like I do when I look into your eyes
