Crimson Echoes of Yesterday

By Sanaa Malesra

Beneath a facade of glorious grace,
lie frosted rubies of a tragic case.
In the moonlit dusk, where she once gleamed,
with eyes that twinkled, and dreams that beamed.
Ominous orbs, once exuding delight,
her courage echoed through chambers of might,
but she’s no longer the beacon, no longer the light.

Once hailed as perfect, in every way,
Now, immersed in sorrow, day after day.

A resilient warrior, relentless and bold,
now weary and worn, in a story untold.
With dreams once pursued, with fire in her eyes,
now burdened by burgundy, beneath darkened skies.

She fought through the storms, with courage untamed,
but now she's adrift in sea, shamed.
Each step feels heavy, each breathe a sigh,
As expectations loom, like clouds in the sky.

Gone are the days of effortless charm,
replaced by a void, icy and tinged with alarm.
Each flaunting laugh masqueraded a frown,
“The outcast, the class clown”.

“What doesn’t kill u makes u stronger,” isn’t that what they say?
Nodding and laughing while she fades away,
scorned by shadows, where darkness leads astray.

Eyes that bear the gravity of worlds unkeen,
a muffled scream by a scintillating scene.

A heart concealed in shadows deep,
where sorrows lurks, a soul to weep.
Bloodshed burgundy beckoned through the rain,
crimson tears, a scarlet stain,
a tantalizing tale of endless pain.

Days, months, years along a timeless cascade,
Seductive glares from a  barbarous blade,
Oh, but it was nothing if not a mere teenage phase.

Cackles encrusting  a tormenting  war,
a tragic tale hidden by a secret door.
She wanted to be better, she wished for more,
but how? She was not even sure.
With feeble strength left to endure,
maybe now there just isn’t any cure?

Beneath the surface, her spirit’s cry,
yet no one knew when no one knows why.
Masked melancholy, behind a forged smile,
crimson red on a shattered bathroom  tile.

Pearly crustal tears trembling teeth as she laid,
A question that lingers, in the darkness, swayed,
Perhaps it would have been better if she hadn’t stayed?

But It was a choice she couldn’t make,
Only for their sake,
It was a chance she vowed to never take.
