Broken Hearts – Delhi Poetry Slam

Broken Hearts

By Priya Wal

What if

all the broken hearts

are just pieces of us that we have freed?

What if all the broken hearts

are dancing in glee,

in a dimension

around us,

close enough to touch

but we are unable to see…

If you fine tune

your ear into silence,

just maybe

you catch a giggle or two,

of them reuniting with childhood sweethearts

and long lost best friends,

exchanging

their life stories

over a cup of tea.

What if

there is a secret heaven

that all the broken hearts always aspired to go to?

Fragments coming together

and becoming whole,

like they never would have

lying trapped in our bodies.

Maybe they become our guardian angels for life.

Maybe they take turns becoming heaven’s

favourite storytellers….

telling happy tales of how they made us human.
