Bleeding Heart

By Anushka Swain

I became the hopeless hope that drove him to grief
Pandora's box seemed less scary, but his ignorance gave shivers down my spine
Satiated my soul with melancholic lies
I wish I would have never fallen in love with you

Wishing to let go, like that pretty flower allows its petals to let go off themselves
I trusted you with my heart
And you sentenced me to grief
I wish I would have never fallen in love with you

All I needed was a tranquil love
Cause solitude embraced my shattered self when you abandoned me
Your words of assurance silenced my world of peace
I wish I would have never fallen in love with you

Deep down my misery, I burned myself to light your path of darkness
Burned till my heart ached, shrieked till my blood soaked
As that miserable thing writhes under your scornful gaze
I wish I would have never fallen in love with you

Demolished the confines of your agony
But got torn down due to your raucous love
Irony, as I still long for you with that longing void
Where once I had bloomed an alluring love
I still wonder where it all went crashing down
Down to my unfortunate fate
I wish I would have never fallen in love with you
