By Mayur Prasanna
I should have taken it sooner
The hand you held out when I was adrift
In the sea of gloom, thought I was a goner
But my leaden soul refused to cross the rift
Kept my darkness closer than your smile
O how I wished to walk down the aisle
With you, sharing all joy and sorrow
Without a care to what'll transpire tomorrow
They say true love comes by hard chance
The floor was set, the melody flew
Yet I left you hanging for the dance
Yet another fortune away I threw
Now I'm happy,( or am I?) for the one
One who was wise to say " I'll keep you mine"
Now I wait watching the overcast sky bring
A melancholy drizzle, as the Lumineers sing
" But I was late for this, late for that,
late for the love of my life
And when I die alone, when I die alone,
when I die I'll be on time".
