I feel my heartbeat rise
As we ride up the rollercoaster of love,
Full of anticipation about what’ll happen next.
But as soon as the rollercoaster drops,
I panic, a frightened passenger.
What kills me is that I can’t seem to unsee
Your confused, beautiful, black oval eyes.
So despite the highs I get from your love,
I keep falling back down, away from you.
Our hearts ache together
As we move through loops.
It’s never a straight ride towards you.
I am like the safety belt of the rollercoaster,
Keeping you tight,
But I only hold onto half of you.
Half of you,
I never reach—
Because I never completely let in,
You, or myself.
