An Illusion

By Darshana Shah

That silent moment, when a euphony played
Time came to a standstill, but the heartbeats raced
Perhaps a dream so real that scintillated us
Dissolving into each other without caring as such
Sensing your scent in the air and the fascinating blaze
Mesmerised was I of that captivating gaze
I melted in your fervour, with a ceaseless swirl
I was lost in that imagery, making it my actual world
And soon, when I gather myself, the reality strikes
My instinct cheats, and the illusion thrives
You have let me down enough, on countless times
So don’t you dare look me back, at my soul or in my eyes!
