What are memories meant to be?
Are they the tales that give me glee?
Are they the songs we used to sing,
Or the echo of the love I bring?
Are they moments I long to relive,
Or wounds from the past I cannot forgive?
Are they the souvenirs of you, my dear,
Or just a haze that won’t appear clear?
Are they a symbol of what we knew,
Or fleeting thoughts that simply flew?
Are they the past so close to me,
Or dreams that stir up sudden glee?
Are memories the days I trust and hold,
Or haunted nights that leave me cold?
Are they the things I left behind,
Or just the prisoners of my mind?
