A Woman's Body – Delhi Poetry Slam

A Woman's Body

By Tamanna Chawla

Shaped,
By strength and softness alike.

Immersed,
In the exuberant flow,
Of pleasure and joy.

Fearsome, nurturing,
Fallen, broken,
Builds, rises,
And fights again.

Full strides,
Of freedom.
Garnering pace,
For each,
Leap of faith.

Playful,
In the midst of a storm.
Healing,
As if,
Forgetful of pain.

From birth.
A home,
To the ageless spirit,
Till death takes the last breath away,

Then at last rests,
The tireless body,
Now homed in the Earth’s embrace.

Touching,
Not even upon,
The infinities,
Of the intellect.
The body has stories,
Of its own to tell.

Fulfilling its purpose of,
Anchoring desires.
From the channel,
That is the mind.

Feared by the craven,
Worshiped by the free .

A woman’s body,
Is more than just what they say.
