A Drop in Void

By Ishika Mehra

For a fleeting moment, love returned,
Like the sweet echoes, of the distant days.
This time I prayed, for it to remain,
But my prayers were defied,
My love had vanished in thin air.

I tried to hold it near, but as i feared,
It was ripped off of my grasp,
I was left in fragments, scattered in pieces.
Tears in my eyes, nothing in my mind,
But for the agony, i was yet not ready.

A single drop of hope that it lingered,
In the void that filled my soul,
Fell into the hollow of my heart.
It wasn't enough to fill the emptiness,
but just enough to stretch the ache.
