A daily ordeal

By Surabhi K

Little feet follow me around,
Bumping into me now and then.
Her anklets chime with the faltering steps,
All her focus centered on my back.

At times I stop and turn to see,
Two big, beautiful eyes staring back at me.
They are oceans of love and trust,
Of hope with a twinkle of mischief.

Her arms raise in anticipation,
As I gently scoop her up.
A giggle escapes her tiny throat,
And my heart flutters like a joyous bird!

In that moment, we are one -
Mind , body and soul.
All my worry lines disappear,
A contented smile replacing them.

They say children are born
When we need them the most.
My daughter is my salvation,
The medicine to my soul!
