A Blank Canvas

By Preyashi Singh

A serene canvas of twinkling stars,
Somebody polish the stars, they are looking a bit dull.
Wind blowing, caressing thy face,
Just how dad would, to envelope with a sanctuary of warmth, strength and unwavering affection, offering solace and security in its tender grasp.

Amidst the darkness, the shining round creature,
The moon! Oh to be the moon!
Hearing every lullaby mothers sang to their kids.
Hearing the whispering world breaking the tranquility and serenity of the night,
Oh to be the moon! Being away from grief and mourning for once,
To be the light that illuminated the world of love, offering a vast sky for the youthful paramours.

Nights were the time when music sounded so beautiful,
The time to come back to people you love.
Finally, the moon waves a goodbye,
It was time to go to bed.
