The Unconventional One

By Rakshitha Dheenadhayalan

She has the body of a twenty-year-old something
With the mind of an infant that holds the whole world within.
Her daddy is "God" as she fondly calls him,
Little did she know her daddy was abused when he was a kid.

Nevertheless, his scars hold no grudges,
For he sought to give her a life full of riches
She grew mighty fast
But her brain had many questions that were yet to be asked

She found a way to make herself "happy"
At any given time, all she needed was a little nappy.
Adventure beckoned, her innocence gave her away
By a lover's guise that claimed to protect her all the way.

She saw the other side of life and felt the desire to be generous
She gave away his wealth as she felt helpless.
They were evicted by the landlord as he scrambled for change
But she swore she'd find them a place despite being estranged.

She became a woman of the society
She earned while he drank away in solidarity.
She made a living when married men came to visit her
She finally felt useful amongst all of the blur.

She was ridiculed by the man who claimed to love her.
But found forgiveness as he needed her,
To house, feed, and provide with all the grandeur
Until she realized she didn't need a man who leeched onto her.

She traveled and learned the way of life
The people who visited her guided her day and night.
She pursued medicine as her end goal
Her body and mind were no longer trolls.

Who would have thought the towns whore would make it big
Now they queue up outside her doctor's chambers
As she helps the poor, needy, and sick.
