BY JIEL NARVEKAR
Tangled in emotions, making me want to cry.
We stand together saying our last goodbye.
We make promises that we know will not last.
Unable to accept that life, as we knew it, has passed.
In that moment, I feel like a voyager going to sea.
Leaving behind the land of familiarity.
Knowing fully well that I had to shed the past.
The wind blowing my sails and my flag at full mast.
The sea ahead and the land almost fading.
Attempts we make to keep the friendship from waning.
Just like the voyager journeys to new lands.
Meeting new people, I go along with life’s demands.
The life I left behind is now a memory in my head.
The bittersweet moments in my psyche, stay with me, until I am dead.
Onward the voyager must sail.
