"He waited for her yesterday,
She never came.
He waited for her today,
She never came.
And, he waited for her as he lay dying, faraway.
It was a rainy November day,
With a faint moon,
hovering uncertainly in the sky.
And, somewhere, amongst the bare trees,
He could hear a sparrow cry.
He closed his eyes,
To imagine, to believe,
That She was there by his side;
During his final hours,
between those, oh, so cold sheets.
Upon closing his eyes,
vivid images came to mind.
How they first met;
Two lonely souls sitting on a lonesome rock!
The warm breeze, the cold sea...
He had thought that life could be as wonderful as can be.
And as She lay in his arms that night;
Stars flew above them, twinkling bright.
But She was not not to be his Angel,
forsaking him before the moon could glisten upon them again.
It was a rainy November day.
He could hear a sparrow cry.
His eyes opened,
And saw the deathly whiteness of the room.
He breathed his last,
before He could think of Her again."
The expression of a longing soul waiting to see his beloved. There is pain and hope.
Love the poem, it’s truly a masterpiece which captures the sorrow of unfilled love, loss and the essence of longing. A deeply moving & evocative work.
Beautifully written. It captures the feeling of longing, in a way I haven’t come across lately.
Beautiful poem and well conceived thoughts. Immortal souls destined for eternity without meeting.
This is a beautiful poem. I love how you have captured the sense of longing.
There is heaviness in every soul… but the heaviness of waiting for someone is so well written here. Well written poetically 👏🏼
I could resonate as if its my story, The pain of losing your heart was soaring loud from your poem❤️
