Tale of that terrible night

By Shubhangi Kaushik

"It was on that night that things did change,

She was returning home from work late!

She didn't know she was being followed,

She then suddenly felt someone's shadow.

Being afraid she kept on walking.

After a while, she took out her phone to call,

Hoping that someone will save her.

That's when things did really change!

That night, that terrible night, things did change.

She tried her best to escape,

But, she was brutally raped!

That night, that terrible night,

Even the clouds cried for her,

Shed tears in the form of rain.

But for the society,

She was the one to be blamed!

She was a symbol of purity,

And will always remain.

Her clothes don't define her character,

Neither, do you have the right to judge her!

Change your ill mentality, that's what changes the game.

Why to blame the victim,

Instead of the monster who raped?"
