By Beena E S
in silent midnight;
as moonlight glistened,
through frozen leaves;
I tripped on...
Ah! a book of gripping stories....
unheard, unknown, untold;
diverse stories together,
as pages rustled,
the moon smirking smiled;
a beggar's tale, a poignant stroll,
whispers of hunger, an echo frail.
free from the loud street's calls,
refugee in a peaceful kingdom's veil;
a beauty's tale, once woven with grace;
silken trail lost, time's subtle embrace.
eyes, erstwhile stars' soft gleam,
unidentifiable, a faded dream.
a glutton's tale, indulgence keen,
now oddly lean, a spectral sheen
in life's twist, a quiet surrender,
senses gone, no cravings to render.
an old lady's tale, loss in her gaze,
ninety-one, recounting life's maze.
unlived, the gifted life she'd known,
regret's silent echo, life's wear and tear grown.
a young lass's story, happiness aglow,
with memories that gracefully flow.
a life of beauty, just twenty-three years,
a tale to cherish, with laughter and tears
a soldier' s tale;
war's cruel dance, wounds concealed.
silent story etched in red,
courage speaks, though words unsaid.
a wealthy ruler half the realm in hand,
in a corner, he claims his silent stand.
no vast empire, just his name,
echoes softly in his solitary domain.
a power monger's tale, where ambition reigns,
crafting speeches, promises feign,
in the spun web, a nuanced game,
a tale of cunning, where interests tame
the book vanishes as the alarm rings,
Ah! a dream!!!
the unread cemetery stories;
where only memories linger.
in silent breath, distinctions stall;
after the fall, a universal thrall;
no rank stands tall,
equality after life's curtain fall.
Well written! Kudos to the poet!!
