By Sasha Dhawan
Separated from
the silver of the shoal
I scanned the great blue,
and met her eyes of glinting amber
She swam me to the cove
we planned to scour
The sapphire Mediterranean,
pectoral fin in fin
The great golden orb was sinking,
her scales glimmered like rose quartz
My gills rose and fell
faster than a tidal wave
Overjoyed!
I staged a little spin
but heard a big splash
Distraught,
I looked around
But my beloved,
was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly! I caught
a glimpse of glinting amber
I darted for a kiss
and then couldn't let go...
Let go of the copper hook
lodged in my mouth.
