‘Rise, rise, rise’

By Divinia Mercy Tynsong

Rise from the darkness, you human!

Break the dawn

Let thy child's plate be occupied with warm meals of safety and assurance,

And not rotten flesh marinated with fears and mourns.

Rise from the darkness, you human!

RISE, RISE, RISE! I shall frequently roar Until your eyes shall be unblinded,

Ears shall unfold

Hands shall not be so ignorant,

Mouths shall spill heroic words which have been rotten in the kitchen's corner,

And left unspoken for so long.

Rise from the darkness, you human!

And let not your children die from thirst, For the rusty water from the pipelines taste unpleasant,

Owing to your words of curse.

Rise from the darkness, you human!

Let your children learn to breathe

The cool breeze reciting notes of encouragement,

And not be poisoned by your evil- smelling deeds.

Rise from the darkness, you human!

Let your children walk on the streets,

With lifelong shoes of freedom

And not be enslaved by chains of persecution.

Rise from the darkness, you human!

Break barriers and change the world

Till the day your children will no longer mourn,

Only till then, perhaps, shall you hear my roar.
