Not A Cinderella Story

By Priyanka Toke

Sweating, aching,
Her body’s shaking.

Her golden fairytale dreams,
Now all seem vantablack,
‘Cause didn’t any fairy godmother,
Ever come to cut her some slack.

She’s standing on the cliff of a mountain,
Face patched with dried up tears,
The only thing keeping her from jumping,
Is how she climbed up here.

Her gown got stuck in a thorny bush,
The silky fabric got torn in a deadly rush.

Ahead of her lies a deep dark valley,
Of the story of her life, is this the finale?

An evil laugh scares her,
She turns to look behind,
There stands the devil she loved,
When she had lost her mind.

With the face of an angel,
It’s an evil liar,
Prince charming is just another,
Blood thirsty vampire.

Her vision’s getting blurry,
With the fog of defeat,
Her broken glass slippers are,
Piercing through her feet.
She’s bleeding.
I am bleeding.
