Manipur: The lost Jewel?

By Jon Mite

When the logjam in Parliament ends
and the government finally speaks
A slew of relief packages offered
A fragile peace deal brokered
Will normalcy then return?
Will she be her old self again?

When the school and colleges reopen
A child shall miss her friend who sat next
When a mother rests after her daily chores
She shall sob a tear laying on her empty bed
For when the storm of violence has subsided
The mountain of pain shall stand it's ground.

You may rebuild their houses and villages
But can you restore someone's home?
You may repair their road and bridges
But can you mend a broken heart?
You may reconstruct the churches and temples
But can you repose faith in their hearts again?
Will normalcy then ever return?
Will she ever be her old self again?
