If – Delhi Poetry Slam

If

BY DEVANSH GUPTA

If you detach yourself from money and greed

If you stop hatred in you to breed

If you follow the ones to follow your lead

Then you’re a man, indeed!

If you draw good fences for the neighbor you make

If you give up on bad; you forsake

If you watch your step to keep your eyes on your stake

Then you’re a man you want to make!

If you twist the twists of perspectives of life

If you remove the era of bitterness and strife

If you are full of life and alive

Then you’re a man who will surely thrive!

If you look within the soul in you

If you are to everyone, always true

If you have no place to feel blue

Then you’re a man who grew!

If you forgive and forget the trivial trouble

If you explore things that you often grumble

If you have a golden heart free of rubble

Then you’re a man whose success is double!

If you face your destiny you never give up

If you remain strong and not a buttercup

If you have a plan B as a good backup

Then you’re a man; walking chin-up!

The Guru closed his book he sighed a bit

And then said, “My boys do not ever quit”

He addressed his disciples with delight

An atmosphere of wisdom did ignite

“Remember this and don’t ever forget

For you would never in life regret”!
